Android settings for instant shutdown. 

We have a Samsung GalaxyS10 running Android 10. 

If you have a different phone, a different operating system, it may look a little different but the settings are the same. - Everything we're going to talk about  is designed to remove the load from your phone processor that will speed it up or save your battery life; both good things. 

- Yes. - Or it will increase your highly regarded privacy these days. 

So we need to go to the settings app to get started. 

- On the right, to do that, swipe down from the top of the screen there. 

I have the Settings app here.

 If you do not see the Settings app in this menu just go to search and type settings.

 There it is. I'll just tap on that.We're in the settings app. 

The first thing we will open is a nearby device scan. -

 Close device scanning does what it sounds like it does. 

Your phone is always searching for other nearby devices that I may want to connect to.

 It can actually deplete your battery life. 

 so we'll click on Connections.

 We'll tap Moreconnection settings here and scan the device Near, tap that switch, turn it off.

 - Next we will talk about how to choose which apps you want to allow to continue working on the back of your phone even if you don't use it. 

It's easy to get there. - Mhm. - We need to enable the developer mode anyway. 

So, let's do that. - So we go back to the main Settings App page and scroll all the way to the shortest Phone, tap on that.

Then tap the Software details.

 Now tap on Build number seven times. -

Developer mode is on, All right, so we'll go back to the main application settings page.

Then tap the three dots in the top right corner of the screen. Also tap Usage and diagnosis. Here you 

will see a beautiful littleswitch, now open, just tap it, now off.

 - Save battery life, save some mobile data. - [David] Easy.- [David] Why not? Next we will talk about banning customization ads. - Mhm. 

- This will just be delivered; I know it is anonymous but still, it sends information about how you use your phone to connect to networks to send you relevant advertising. - Yes, they collect your information so don't say, oh I talked about biscuits in my living room and now I'm suddenly thinking of biscuit ads on my phone. 

- I know, it's weird. -

 So we'll just press the back button on the top left corner of the screen.

 And you'll see under the ads, tap on that. Opt out to personalize ads. You know, it's a video-closing setting - Right. - You must open this mode to turn it off. - All right. - We will go ahead and turn on that switch.

 Opt out of interest-based interests, you will still see ads but may not be targeted to your interests. Be careful if you delete your cache, you will lose your opt-out setting, okay.

 I’ve seen too much of a post in the forums where people say they blocked these two settings and I kept the battery life tone.
